Leading food contact experts gathered at Hotel Indigo Shanghai Hongqiao to discuss regulatory landscape, technical and contextual issues of the food contact realm.
Food Contact Asia 2020 conference was a huge success and was held from 19-21 October in Shanghai, China. This year’s conference proved a vital platform for industry stakeholders to share their latest findings, case studies and invaluable insights.
This year’s Food Contact Asia is organized by Smithers Information and sponsored by UPM Raflatac. The forum dedicated to the food contact value chain, Food Contact Asia 2020 attracted an international audience that spans the entire food contact value chain, including toxicology specialist, regulatory consultant, regulatory technical engineer, product stewardship leader, regulatory affairs manager and more from across the food contact realm.
Conference day one was hosted by David Ettinger from Keller and Heckman. Under the topics of “China food packaging system and GB standards, Food packaging legislation in other Asian jurisdictions, Global food contact regulatory landscape, in addition to Asia region, and Considerations of food contact compliance”, industry leading professionals gathered to provide attendees with critical updates and insights related to regional changes, industry developments, and regulatory requirements that are crucial to the continued success when navigating international markets.
Focusing on “Sustainability and safety in food contact packaging and materials, Case studies of FCM in different applications on compliance/sustainability, Technical consideration in food contact materials”, conference day two was hosted by Marco Zhong, Prof./Director and Dan Li, Researcher at IQTC.
Many domestic speakers delivered wonderful speeches onsite and participants actively participated in Q&A sessions. High-calibre speakers from Verisk3E, JHOSPA, Indonesia Packaging Federation, Smithers, Steptoe, Compliance & Risks, Amcor, Nestle, Dario Dainelli-Policy & Regulatory Affairs made speeches remotely and brought expert insights, a deep understanding of the whole market.
The two day event featured a panel discussing “Challenges and difficulties facing food contact compliance – perspectives across the value chain”. The speakers shared what are the major challenges and difficulties facing food contact compliance and safety, and how the value chain can collaborate to tackle the challenges together.
