Sharing his PrintPack 2019 experience, Dr.Amrutharaj H.Krishnan, HOD, Dept. Of Media Technology, MIT, Manipal, says, “PrintPack 2019 was a great exhibition which helped visitors to experience the newest technologies, products, systems and software for the digital age. As Asia’s largest interactive exhibition of information it showcased trends and vitality of our print industry to the world.”
He looks satisfied with the duration of the show which got expanded to now 6 days, “The exhibition attracted about a lakh visitors over the 6 day period. This record-breaking total shows there was sufficient time for all interested to participate. There were two main factors behind the high level of attendance. Widespread interest from industry to see the myriad cutting-edge products on display and extensive media coverage contributed to the show’s popularity.”
He termed the live demos of various technologies and machineries as the ‘distinguishing feature’ of Print Pack 2019. “Demonstrations showed how easy it is to operate that can raise the productivity with minimum change over time. We could see the participation of many companies for the first time. One such newcomer was Heidelberg, whose exhibit attracted much attention of Print fraternity,” says Dr.Amrutharaj. The Heidelberg booth was divided into 3 zones, which featured MK Easymatrix 106 CS Die Cutter with machine speed of 7700 Sph, MK Easymatrix 106 FC Diecutter / Hot Foil Stamping Machine with machine speed of 7700 Sph and both the machines were Prinect software integrated, and related services. “We could see their Prepress experts personally explain the features of the workflow. Visitors were given 3 demonstrations of both machines every day with a Packaging job,” adds Amrutharaj.
“A highlight of Print Pack 2019 was the 507 exhibits. Most of them had a common saying that they had excellent business deals which is a positive energy for Global print industry as a whole and Indian Print Industry in particular. 65,000 square meters of exhibition space in 6 halls itself is an indication that our industry is in growth,” he asserts.
Dr. Amrutharaj has been a regular visitor at PrintPack. He finds the show of particular interest to him to maintain industry academia relationships, to meet his industry friends and to meet his Alma mater. “I usually do not miss two world famous print exhibitions – PrintPack and Pamex. These exhibits are designed to foster young talents and promote collaborations between the academia and industry. I started going for these exhibitions from 2003. In between, I had to take a short break, when I went for my higher studies, otherwise I am regular,” he concludes.
